EARE/Seed of Hope Ministry.

Our story

EARE/Seed of Hope is an organisation that cares for some of the very poorest people in India. Based in Andhra Pradesh, it is run by Indian people for Indian people. Although it is a Christian organisation its care and social action is free to all regardless of caste or religion.

EARE cares for orphans and runs homes for the elderly and also has a centre for runaway railway children. It provides free health care and vaccination programmes in remote rural areas as well as medical centres for people with HIV/AIDS and leprosy. It also sinks bore wells to provide clean drinking water. EARE also runs a programme offering retraining and resettlement for women and girls trying to escape the sex industry.

At Oasis Church we have been supporting the work of EARE/Seed of Hope Ministries for more than 20 years. Over that time we have raised over £20,000 through sponsored events such as the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge, walking the Taff Trail in under 24 hours, tackled the Mary Jones Walk in Eryri. In 2025 one member took part in a 24 hour endurance run and completed over 100 miles. We have had special offerings and raised money through the sale of crafts for specific projects and for disaster relief such as the major floods of autumn 2024.

Since 2014 we have sent teams to Andhra Pradesh to see the work of EARE and hosted regular visits from the head of EARE Bishop Sudheer Kumar, his wife Santosh and son John.
